Lotta Institute

Kuvakaappaus Lottaopisto-virtuaalikokemuksesta.

The Syväranta Villa, which burned down in 1947, has been reconstructed as a 3D model! Step into the space that hosted Lotta activities and courses almost a 100 years ago.

Lotta Svärd was a voluntary paramilitary organisation for Finnish women, operating between 1920 and 1944. While its operations were disbanded after World War II, an organisation currently known as Lotta Svärd Foundation took over the property and continued the legacy. Lotta Svärd Foundation now runs the Lotta Museum and offers insight into many facets of political history.

The Syväranta Villa hosted Lotta activities and courses in 1936–1944. The original building burned down in 1947, and a similar villa was built in its place in 1995.

Lotta Institute is a 3D reconstruction of the original villa’s hall, created based on old photographs and documents. The experience features info spots, where Lotta women reminiscence about the courses they took in the building.
