Virtual Suviranta

Completed in 1901, Suviranta was the first of the artist homes that were built around Lake Tuusula. It served as a home to the prolific artist Eero Järnefelt (1863–1937). Virtual Suviranta showcases a 3D model of his studio.
Suviranta (translated as Summer Beach) served as a home to the artist Eero Järnefelt and his wife Saimi between 1901 and 1917. While parts of it are open to visitors, the estate still serves as a home to their descendants.
Virtual Suviranta takes you to the studio as it is seen today: combining old and new design elements and everyday items. The studio has been scanned using photogrammetry, and thousands of photos have been combined to create a realistic 3D model. The raw model has been optimised, meaning that the surfaces have been simplified, broken elements have been fixed, and models of furniture and items have been sculpted in a 3D program. As a result, it is possible to read titles of the books stacked in the shelves or peek under the chess table.
Virtual Suviranta is currently available as a demo version, which works on a computer browser.
The demo is also available as a 4K version, which has a higher resolution and thus works best on newer devices.

Virtual Suviranta was created in collaboration with the City of Järvenpää. Suviranta is one of the destinations of the Järvenpää Art Museum.
Suviranta is open to visitors during the summer months. Find up-to-date information and book a guided tour on Järvenpää Art Museum’s website.
