Virtual Villa Kokkonen

Villa Kokkonen is the newest addition to artist homes around Lake Tuusula. The villa was designed by Alvar Aalto and served as composer Joonas Kokkonen’s home from 1969 until 1996. The Virtual Villa Kokkonen is a gaussian splatting recreation of the piano room.
Villa Kokkonen is a rare piece of Finnish design and architecture, as it is one of the few privately owned buildings designed by the internationally renowned Alvar Aalto (1898–1976). In addition to the home itself, most furniture is also designed by Aalto and his design firm, Artek. The villa served as a home to composer Joonas Kokkonen (1921–1996) and his family.
Virtual Villa Kokkonen is Virtual Museum Muste’s first project. The home’s piano room has been scanned and modelled using gaussian splatting. A video of the model is available below.

Virtual Villa Kokkonen has been created in collaboration with the City of Järvenpää. It is one of destinations under the Järvenpää Art Museum.
Villa Kokkonen opens its doors to visitors in May of 2025 and will be open during summer months. Find up-to-date information regarding the museum’s opening hours and book your guided tour on Järvenpää Art Museum’s website.
